It’s all about the words
I wrote my first story when I was eight years old. (It was about a murderous hamster with superpowers). But when you’re eight years old, you don’t know how you’re going to spend the rest of your life.
I tried a lot of different jobs instead. I ran museum education sessions. I worked on an archaeological dig near the Black Sea. I taught English to kids in Austria, Russia, Spain. I moved around so much that my accent kept changing.
Eventually, I realised there was one thing that stayed constant, no matter where I lived or what I worked on or who I hung out with.
Words.
It was all about the words. When I worked in museums and on digs, I wanted to find the best way to illuminate the shadows of the past. When I taught classes, I wanted to help people find their voices and discover the beauty of languages. And I still wanted to tell stories. (Maybe not about evil hamsters, though.)
Fast forward to today.
I write every day: articles, interviews, case studies, tutorials, ebooks. I tell the stories of companies that are changing the digital world, like Shorthand and Social Media Examiner. I spend my time helping people find the perfect words for what they want to say. I edit and publish creative work—including short fiction and poems—and my first book is due out in November 2023.
Eight-year-old me would have been very impressed.
What can I write for you?
